Our Goal: It is our desire to impact our city and surrounding regions with the Biblical message of Jesus Christ, that as a community, so freed and transformed, we would worship God, invite others to experience His life-changing power, and reach people around the world for His glory.
This Week at First Pres
Next Sunday, May 19, is Pentecost Sunday. Pastor Roff's message will examine what Jesus told us about how the Holy Spirit brings us to Christ, giving us a new heart, and radically transforms us from the inside. We will also celebrate the Lord's Supper and welcome our newest group of new members. We will continue with our new morning schedule: Sunday School at 9:00 and worship at 10:30. With a single morning worship service from now on, we're looking forward to the whole First Pres family coming together to sing God's praise and study His word. Our worship will include both classical and contemporary music, organ and choir as well as praise teams with piano, guitar, and percussion. On Sunday evenings, we're examining great words that end in "-tion" ... salvation, regeneration, reconciliation, imputation, etc. This time we'll deal with what the Bible teaches in Genesis 22 and Isaiah 53 about "Substitution," what it means that Jesus died in our place. Music will be led by the Inter Varsity student praise team from Union College. Our May 15 Wednesday evening dinner (which begins at 5:45) will be followed by Kids Zone, choir rehearsal, and prayer meeting. That mid-week Bible study will continue our studies in the book of Isaiah. This will be the final dinner of the season (resuming in the fall) and will include the annual children's Fun Fair.
